Dr. John Morella

John R. Morella, Ph.D. has sixteen years of teaching experience at two southern universities and has held numerous consultant positions. In addition, as a board-licensed psychologist, he provided professional services to the public for over twenty years. A significant number of his patients were children and adolescents. Upon his "retirement" he continued his teaching career at South Louisiana Community College and was awarded the outstanding adjunct instructor by the National Institute for Staff and Organization Development, University of Texas, Austin, Texas, in 2007. Also during his retirement, he turned his energy to writing, publishing several fiction and nonfiction magazine articles, most notable in Angels on Earth, a division of Guideposts. His first book, A Guide For Effective Psychotherapy, Helm Publishing, was published in late 2006 and has been well received as a valuable source for people to understand the complexities of psychotherapy and how to find the right therapist for their needs. The second book, Give Teens A Break!, 2009, American Book Company, stands alone in contemporary literature by offering a revitalizing look at today’s teens. View teens in a new light, gain successful communication techniques, and review compelling evidence on why everyone should Give Teens A Break!

John and his wife, Charlene, reside in Lafayette, Louisiana, in the heart of "Cajun Country," a culture of great food, music (Zydeco), dance, and "joie de vivre" (joy of living).

Their two children, Deneen and John, Jr., and grandchildren (pictured left to right with John; Bryce, Victoria, Cole, and Madeline) live in Houston, Texas.
